Shipping wars in my living room

August 14th, 2005 (03:22 am)

So, as I sat down to dinner and to watch more Season 5, I had this conversation.

Holly: So, who are you shipping?
Theo: Er, shipping?
Holly: Like relationship. Like who do you want Buffy to get with?
Theo: Well, I don't really like Angel.
Holly: So...?
Theo: Spike. Two reasons--humor and conflict. And I like James Marsters better than that guy that plays Angel.
Holly: I will immediately post this to the internet.

I don't know what he's talking about. I like Angel fine.

I rather like Angel myself.

Spuffy needs to die.

as much as i worship you, i'm in complete and utter agreement with Theo, David Boreanaz was never it for me. nothing really against poor Ange, just not enough dark oomph in him. though i might just be transfixed by Spikes bleach job.

I was glad toward the end of the season, when Spike stopped slicking his hair down quite so much.

Honestly, I kind of like them both.

Well, Spike's character did develop and change a lot more over the years than Angel's did. Okay, so Angel's character didn't need to; we already knew his background, what he was about, that he had a soul, etc. I'll be curious as to what you think of him in Season 7.

And James Marsters' English accent really did improve a lot over the years also. It was laughably bad at first, but Anthony Stewart Head worked with him and the improvement was obvious.

Can I just say... this is awesome?

A. You're one of my favorite authors.

B. You're discussing one of my most favorite shows and it's just so interesting to hear your opinions because it's like reading what one of my friends write.

I definitely ship both Angel and Spike. Angel was good when he played in seasons 1, 2, and 3, but I still love Spike in Seasons 6 and 7. So, I think it's safe to say that it's really the particular season they played in. Angel and Buffy just went together in the first few seasons and, yeah, we all love Angel because he's the perfect dark and dangerous lurker boyfriend. By 6 and 7, I just began to like Buffy and Spike better because, I don't know, Buffy had changed and so had Spike... they'd grown together, so they, in fact, seemed perfect for each other.

I can't wait until you see season 7. It's one of my favorites next to 3 (because of Faith). BUT, Faith makes a comeback in this season as well! I loved the big speech Spike gives Buffy at the end, and I'm sure you'll know it when you see it. And, yeah, Andrew is completely classic. Every line is played off fantabulously. Especially when you put him and Anya together, haha.

So, yeah! I hope you enjoyed my little comment here. It's after five here. v_v; I don't know why I'm commenting when it's after five. *sighs*

Now you just have to start using "Spuffy" and "Bangel" and you can truly call yourself a fan. *nods*

Beware the Disney musical episode!

Where did you get the term "shipping" for hooking up?

And on a side note to your previous post in refrence to Jenny Calander. One of the most memorable "Giles" moments was when he loaned her a book and he asked her about it. With a serious face, she replies that she liked it and that she highlighted some passage's and dog eared a few pages. I dont think ive ever seen giles go into a cold sweat so quick and so bad, lol!!!

The second best "Giles" moment was when he turned into a demon and he runs out of the car and scares (the head of the initative - I forgot her name) and he has the biggest grin, lol!!! Ive got a great wallpaper of the demon giles grinning that a friend made me. Gives me a laugh everytime I look at it.

I like the writing for Angel: the series very, very much. Have you seen it yet?

Angel was hot for the first two seasons and the relationship was amazing, but then he got ugly, and the angst thing didn't really do it for me.
Spike and Buffy is definitely the best, with all the conflict. They hit sparks off each other every time they see each other, it's great.

Forgot to add in my last comment that I'm a lurker...

Haha...this is a very relevant post. :)

I liked Angel fine, too. Actually, I liked him a whole lot up until the end of Season Three. I just got sick of the cloud of gloominess and angst that surrounds the pairing - and I didn't buy his reasoning for leaving Buffy. But, if you like Angel, you might enjoy the spin-off called...Angel. He's a bit happier in that one and kind comes into his own.

I liked Spike when he was evil and with Druscilla. Together, they were awesome to watch.

I liked Angel, but I liked him better during the later seasons of his own show.

I always wanted Zander and Willow to get together, but that would have been waaaaay too convenient. And yeah, I know there was that one episode, but still... so cute. But you know I'm a sucker for really nerdy guys. :-D

Spike and Buff. *grins* I've always liked him more than Angel; he was never too goody-two-shoes or at all cuddly in the normal sense. He's always good for a good snip fit and, even when he did help the Scoobies, he was never entirely nice about it. But I won't spoil anything for you.

Yea, you should definately check out the Angel series. Solo!Angel is so much more cool--if you don't mind Buff not being around to distract him. You'll love Wes.

He went Seeking serenity. They were GOING to bring him back on Angel, but then The folx at the WB thought canceling Angel was a good Idea.

tank.... sod off..

OKay so WHen you Mention Spike I have to Jump in...

Angel was okay... He had that Dark Mysterious Romantic thing going on, but really that only goes so far before you get tired of it. Which is why they did the whole Gypsy Curse having him turn bad thing. You know it wasn't going to ever work out in the end for them, because he could never be happy.

Spike, on the other hand, Has room for growth. He has to Prove himself, and his "love" which makes it more Romantic IMHO. Its not like, "Hey I'm Mr Spooky and Brooding, and chicks dig that". Although Spike Doesn't Have a Soul, he seems more Human than Angel in ways, and still has this Inner Child thing going on.. You See it in the later Seasons more often than not.

Plus... That SMIRK that Spike Does.. OMG.. It gives me the Willies!!
(James is going to be on Smallville this Year... I guess I am now offically suckered into watching that)

Okay, I'm going to be completely honest. I love Spike and really, really loathe Angel; mostly because the whole dark angsty woe-is-me attitude that Angel has going on makes him completely unattractive to me. You just know that the thing between he and Buffy is doomed from the beginning, and will only make them miserable - and you miserable, too, just watching it go down in flames.
With that said, I guess it might also have something to do with Spike's accent ^_^ lol, I can't help it! He just sounds sexy, and having the looks to back it up is just an added bonus. Angel sounds exactly like what he is; an angsty brooder. Plus, Spike is just too cute (and not just in the physical sense) for his own good - or for fangirls' good, for that matter.

James is much better than David and Angel is a self rightgeous stuffed shirt.

I'm only slightly biased, as you can see.

Obviously a man of vision.

Never liked Angel 'til he got his own show. Too broody. That's all he did.
Now Spike... you have to love a guy who bleaches his hair constantly and still comes off as badass.

WOW. You get a lot of messages.

I've actually never watched Buffy, but my friend does. Li and I are sending you a letter along with our other friend, Val, and we'll be in Amherst (my brother goes there) at the end of August. (This makes me happy. I get SO hyper when I can relate to someone famous/special to me.) Just thought I'd warn you about our letter; 'tis immensely crazy and hyper (we wrote it the morning after a sleepover). If that doesn't scare you enough, we're sending a picture of us three. That should scare you into leaving town for a few days. OK, shutting up now... and I probably should watch Buffy, if you like it so much.

~Kinsey
